An Erie County woman was injured last night after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a tree in Pembroke, Genesee County.
Genesee County Sheriff’s deputies said Christina A. Curtis, 20, of Williamsville, was eastbound on State Route 5 when she lost control of the car and struck a tree near Loverslane Road about 8 p.m.
Curtis allegedly told troopers that she was sending a text message on her cellular phone and took her eyes off the road for a moment, deputies said. At that time, she failed to see a curve in the road, and drove off the southern shoulder, into a tree and ultimately came to rest in a ditch. Curtis, who was alone in the vehicle, was injured in the crash, deputies said. She was transported to Erie County Medical Center for treatment, according to police records. Curtis was listed in fair condition today, according to a hospital spokesman.Further details of the crash were not immediately available.VFREILE@DemocratandChronicle.com
